Apple crumble

This cozy British-inspired Apple Crumble features baked apples and blackberries topped with a golden, buttery vegan crumble. Served warm with vegan cream or custard, it’s a sweet, comforting dessert perfect for any season.

FOR THE FILLING

  • 4 Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples
  • 1.5 cups blackberries
  • 1.0 tbsp. brown sugar

FOR THE CRUMBLE

  • 6 oz plain flour
  • .5 cups sugar
  • .5 cups vegan butter
  • 1.0 tbsp. rolled oats
  • vegan cream or custard for serving

Preparation

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F (190° C). 
  2. Peel and chop the apples into pieces, then combine with the blackberries and sugar. Transfer to a baking or pie dish, and set aside. 
  3. Combine the flour, sugar, and oats, then add the vegan butter and rub into the dry ingredients until you have the consistency of breadcrumbs. 
  4. Top the fruit with the crumble, and bake for 35 minutes. 
  5. Serve warm with vegan cream, custard, or vegan ice cream.
