This plant-based cream cheez ball is a creamy, savory appetizer that’s perfect for any occasion. Made with cashews and loaded with flavorful herbs, spices, and a crunchy nut coating, it’s as delicious as it is easy to make. Serve it with crackers, veggies, or crusty bread for a crowd-pleasing treat everyone will enjoy!

Ingredients

(SERVINGS: 5)

  • 1 cup unsalted cashews
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp. nutritional yeast
  • 2 tsp. white miso paste
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¾ cups nuts of your choice, chopped (try almonds or walnuts)

Preparation

  1. In a medium container, soak the cashews in water for at least four hours (overnight is best).*
  2. Drain the nuts, then add them to a high-powered blender with lemon juice, nutritional yeast, miso paste, garlic, and salt. Blend until uniform.
  3. Line a small bowl with plastic wrap and add the cheese mixture. Using the ends of the plastic wrap, shape the mixture into a cheese ball. Leave it to rest in the freezer for an hour.
  4. After an hour, remove the plastic wrap and carefully press the chopped nuts into the ball.
  5. Serve with crackers or as part of a plant-based charcuterie board.

Tips

Don’t have time to soak the cashews overnight? Try pouring boiling water into a bowl with the nuts and allow to soak for 2 hours.

Try adding paprika, chili powder or fresh herbs! You can also swap the chopped nuts for cranberries, chives or fresh pepper.
