Spicy Punch

This spicy punch is a bold and invigorating drink that blends sweet fruit juices with a kick of warming spices. Serve it hot or chilled for a festive beverage that’s sure to excite your taste buds!

Ingredients

(SERVINGS: 16-20)

 

  • 21 cups water
  • 4 guavas or 1 large mango
  • 3 cups hibiscus flowers
  • ¾ cup tamarind pulp
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups of brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 sliced orange for serving
  • 10 star anise (optional) for serving

Preparation

 

  1. Boil the water. When it boils, add the hibiscus and cinnamon. Cook for 10 minutes. Strain the water into a bowl, but do not throw out the water! This is to remove the hibiscus.
  2. Blend the guavas or mango, tamarind pulp, and sugar (taste and adjust sweetness) for 1 minute. Pass the mixture through a strainer. 
  3. Pour the mixture over the hibiscus water. Add the orange slices and star anise (optional). Refrigerate until cool. Add more water if you want a less concentrated flavor. Serve in a glass with ice, and enjoy!
