Your guide to plant-based Thanksgiving food
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we’ve got the ultimate menu to keep it festive, fun, and completely plant-based. Whether you’re hosting a full vegan celebration or adding a few animal-friendly dishes to your table, this guide will help you plan a delicious holiday meal. Even better, this feast fed six for less than $10 per person!
The main event: plant-based “turkey” roast
Nothing says plant-based Thanksgiving like a hearty faux turkey roast. It’s flavorful, easy to cook, and pairs beautifully with all your favorite sides. Our Thanksgiving plate started with a Tofurkey roast, which comes filled with a savory wild rice stuffing and equipped with creamy, rich gravy. Other brands include Field Roast and Gardein, which you can find in the refrigerator or freezer aisle at your local grocery store. These holiday roasts mimic the taste and texture of your typical Thanksgiving main dish, without harming animals.
All about the sides
If you’re like us, you’re here for the sides–arguably the best part of any Thanksgiving feast. Cans of cranberry sauce and yams make for classic holiday sides. Roasted veggies with olive oil or plant-based butter are easy to prepare. Canned biscuits—like Pillsbury or Annie’s—add a cost-effective and delicious touch to your plate.
Even your holiday favorites can be easily transformed into a plant-based dish. We’re starting with green bean casserole topped with crispy onions, creamy, buttery mashed potatoes, and herbaceous stuffing.

Creamy green bean casserole
A creamy casserole made with tender green beans and topped with crispy fried onions? Yes, please. Your favorite comfort food can be made just as rich and savory as you remember… without animal products.
We made ours with a quick, homemade cream of mushroom soup and browned our crispy onions in the oven until extra crunchy.
Easy garlicky mashed potatoes
Fluffy and warm mashed potatoes will curb your carb cravings without the dairy. We made ours extra garlicky and buttery, blending until smooth and creamy.
Simple and savory plant-based stuffing
No holiday meal is complete without stuffing. We used Pepperidge Farm’s cubed stuffing—Herb Seasoned, Sage & Onion, and Cornbread flavors are all plant-based. Most bagged mixes are vegan; just add a few ingredients and bake!
